I am thankful…

September 27, 2004 | Filed Under General | 3 Comments

I am thankful for the Jean & Carl Frank Canine Park in Rochester.
I am thankful for our little white dog that bravely hops and swims through water deeper than he is tall, all with a smile on his face.
I am thankful for our leggy shepherd mutt that runs as fast through a creek as she does on dry land, especially with her brother chasing her.
I am thankful for my husband, who is willing to bathe 2 filthy, muddy dogs just for the joy of watching them play in the water.
I am thankful that soon I will be holding our baby on the banks of the creek, filled with love for our little family.

I wish I would have had a camera with me to share the sight of Jason, Rossi and Scout playing together in the creek, but I know somehow, it couldn’t quite capture the emotion of the moment. We are all so lucky to have each other.

Giving back to the ol’ alma mater

Yesterday, a group of Michigan Technological University (MTU) students in the Scientific and Technical Communication (STC) program came to my place of employment to learn what graduates of the program actually do. Being a proud grad (class of ‘01) and loving to give advice on any subject, I was eager to spread my wisdom. Actually, giving advice to the program is kinda a cause for me. I’ve been trying to make a difference there since I was still a student. Read more

38 weeks and 5 days

September 24, 2004 | Filed Under Eaglet | 2 Comments

Unfortunately, not much new to report. The PUPP is still raging. I scratched myself until I bled today without realizing it. Pretty gross and very embarrassing. The doctor says that they will induce me whenever, but I’d like to avoid that. Labor is supposed to be easier if it comes naturally and inducing increases the risk for a c-section. It doesn’t look like our egg is going to hatch anytime soon naturally though. I’m 50% effaced and 1 cm dilated–not impressive. On the bright side, it doesn’t seem likely that I’ll have to call Jason out of class this weekend. It feels like she has put down roots and is never coming out, but I know it is just my own impatience. I’m really excited to meet our little Eaglet. In any case, I know it won’t be more than a couple of weeks until we are holding her.
