Howdy.
I am going to struggle trying to figger out how this new setup works, but here goes.
This weekend is now over, and it wasn’t very relaxing, but that is ok. Went to school Friday night and Saturday morning. I am liking this class (Managerial Economics) more than most of the others. I think that is partially because I get to look at numbers and do some calculus, rather than write papers and have discussions about what Federal law covers workers who want to take leave because of their kid has bad toenail fungus, or they have a fiery outbreak of herpes on their forehead.
Anyhow, I am liking it better than most. It is interesting because it could apply to personal business, if I ever have one.
Saturday, I put a coat of paint on in the basement- it is starting to look like a real room, minus all the crap strewn about. Actually, I guess it looks close the same way it will when it is done, as we aren’t the cleanest people.

Today I went to R+M Steel in Dodge Center and bought some tubing and anglestock for the welding cart. I worked on it for several hours while Rachel and Ben went to town, then again after Ben went to bed. I learned a lot on this small project, and my welds at the end were a lot better than when I began. It is a welding cart though, so it doesn’t matter that a few welds don’t look great- they are strong enough. Had a few “oops” moments- like welding a swiveling caster next to a non swiveling one (I picked up the wrong one), but nothing that a few minutes with the grinder couldn’t fix. I am stoked and have plans to build several new things- maybe I will even give Jake my first set of radiator guards…

Brief update

Another busy week in the Eagle house…Thursday we had family pictures taken. Ben did as well as can be expected. I know he flashed a few of his infamous toothy grins, let’s hope that they were caught by the camera. We will post a link to our online proofs when we get them (in the next 2 weeks).
Later Thursday, we headed off to Ben’s daycare Halloween party. Yes, the kid has more of a social life than we do. He was outfitted in his monkey costume (that barely fits him!) It actually looks more like a bear or lion, depending on who you ask, but the tail is all monkey. I took a few pictures, but surprisingly, Ben wasn’t in the mood for more pictures. We will try again on Halloween.
Finally, Karen (Ben’s ex-teacher) dropped in to say Happy Halloween with a card and some candy for the kid. Ben recognized her right off and was thrilled to see her. No shyness this time. She hung out and played for a little while. Ben ate one of his chocolates. He has had a chocolate chip cookie, and a small amount of chocolate milk, but this was his first experience with pure chocolate. I think he liked it, as he held it tight in his little hand between bites, and wouldn’t let me hold it. His shirt ended up a mess, as he drooled chocolate all over. I think some Collins relatives would have been proud.
Have a good weekend.
