Thunderous thoughts

The boring part
We’ve had 2 days of rain and thunderkaboomers here, and I love it! Could this mean spring is truly here? The rain is washing everything clean, and it smells like worms.
No big weekend plans, unless you count working on the basement, which I do. We hope to finish the last little bit of painting and begin the wood work. Alas, there is so much wood work to be done. I hope to take pictures of the progress, assuming we actually make progress.
The ranting part
I was listening to the top-forty radio station this morning, because I couldn’t handle another debate on gay marriage on MPR, my normal morning (and afternoon and evening) station. I heard a song with this line:
Nobody gonna love me better
I’m going stick witch you forever.
First of all, I get this impression that this is supposed to be some sweet love song, but to me, it sounds like:
Since I guess I’m not going to do any better, and you love me, I might as well stick with you, even though I don’t love you. I really wish I could do better, but at least I have someone to pay my bills.
Way more irritating though was the “witch you” part. WHAT THE HECK? Is it really so hard to say “with”? It isn’t like it would change the number of syllables or mess up the song. Does saying “witch” really make it cool? It makes me want to hit myself in the head, because it hurts so bad. Maybe this is why I shouldn’t listen to top-forty radio: I’m too old, and I don’t get it.
The cute part
Ben is healthy again, after a few days at home this week with the stomache flu. We are all relieved that it is over and the big folks didn’t catch it. When I dropped him off at daycare this morning, there was a big kid in his class (big meaning about 3). When Ben entered, he ran up and gave him kisses on both of his chubby cheeks. Ben just sat there kinda confused. His teacher laughed and explained that he thinks he is so much older and just loves the “babies”. I almost croaked from the cuteness.
Ben is getting much more generous with his own kisses. Sometimes, he’ll give us a kiss without being asked. Other times, it takes very little coaxing. Of course, there are still plenty of times he won’t give us a kiss for anything. Last night, Jason and I were sitting on the floor with Ben, and we leaned over to kiss each other (ewwww, right?). Ben saw this and leaned in too. We ended up with a family kiss. It was pretty much, like, the coolest thing ever.
Have a good weekend.

I love wireless

I am at a conference for work at the Minneapolis Convention Center. I am between sessions, so I am checking work e-mail and writing this. I love wireless (after my husband walks me through setting it up, because I am dumb and did it wrong).
It was a good, though very lazy, weekend with Stacey. The highlight (for me) were the ribs that Jason smoked yesterday. One word: YUM. We didn’t take many pictures, probably because we didn’t do much of anything. She’s home with the Midget today though, so I’d guess she’s making up for lost time.
I should get back to business.

since I have actually written anything here? Sorry, but life has been all about that new camera. We are almost recovered from our Texas trip, and we are trying to revive our house for a visitor this weekend–Stacey! So, what’s been happening? Read more
