A day in the Dells

Sunday, we packed up early and headed to Wisconsin Dells to meet the Moberg family for a day at the water park. On the way it was very dark and looked like rain, but sunny skies were all we saw once we arrived at Noah’s Ark. Jason, Ed, Clarke and Callie scoped out the best rides in the morning, while Ben, Easton, Drake, Sherilyn and I enjoyed the kiddie pool, the ball pit, and a show featuring singing, dancing animals. We all met up for lunch and enjoyed a picnic with sandwiches, chips, brownies, veggies, and yogurt dots. After lunch, Clarke and Callie took me on a few slides and didn’t even make fun of me too badly when I screamed. I think that is the hallmark of nice kids. The adults continued to take turns having fun with the little ones and the big kids, until we left exhausted and in search of pizza. It was a full day, but we had so much fun. We hope to make it a yearly event. Some highlights of the day (to me):
1) The Black Anaconda–my favorite ride/slide at Noah’s Ark
2) Ben’s happy squeals in the water
3) Easton demoting Jason from “the man” to “the guy”…at least he knows Benny’s name ![]()
4) Hearing Drake laugh while Jason kissed him, and Jason’ s declaration that he thinks we should have another one some day (Watch the video HERE)
5) Callie informing me that I am a grown-up -HA!
Some highlights of the day (according to Jason):
1) The Point of No Return–the ride that is only for the savages!
2) Napping with Benjamin
3) Watching Ben go down the water slide (Watch the video HERE)
Yeah for Target!

We hit Target at lunch to pick up a few quick odds and ends (diapers and a non-slip tub liner) and found 2 unexpected awesome deals. We picked up a huge wall clock and a framed abstract art piece (both 75%) off that we will use in the new and improved family room. I had tried to convince Jason that the art would be a good addition several months ago, but at almost $100, there was no way. I never seem to find these deals when I am looking for them, which makes stumbling over them so much better.

While Daddy’s away…

When Jason is out of town for the races, I’ve gotten into the habit of spoiling Ben a little…or maybe a lot. Usually, he’s my little shopping buddy while we run errands. That’s not really the spoiling part. He doesn’t like it much at all, but while we are in town, I punctuate the errands with treats. They usually include lunch and playtime at the golden arches, splitting a smoothie, and a trip to the park. Although I’m never happy to say goodbye to Jason, I like my special days with my little buddy. Even though he can be a real turkey lately (feeding countless fists full of food to the dogs, screaming “No!”, and throwing fits), I continue to love him more everyday. I’ll never know how I got so lucky.

PS: Jason moved up to B class and still took first, but at least no one can accuse him of sandbagging anymore
I’m proud of you J.
