Who’s that big boy?

Who's that big boy?

Though he looks good, it is kinda an illusion. It’s still a little big for him, so we traded it for the trike.

A better size

Of course, we also had to take the wagon for a spin…or 3.

75 degrees

March 25, 2007 | Filed Under Eaglet, Motorcycles, Photos | 2 Comments

That’s right. It was 75 degrees today. Awesome. If only it would last…

As you can imagine, we spent a lot of time outdoors this weekend. Friday, Jason went to lift, and Ben and I hit the park. We met back up on the walk home, and Benny was impressed with Daddy’s wheelies into the setting sun. “Daddy’s ornge (no a) momobike!”

Saturday, Benny and Jason did guy things, as I spent the day with Jess. When I returned home and asked Ben about his day, he told me he went on a “great adventure.” I asked what he did on his adventure, and he responded “taco bites and momobikes.” They accompanied some friends to some motorcycle stores in the cities, and yes, they ate tacos.

Today, we had some more park time and some serious shopping. First, we picked up a new wagon for Benny. It was his birthday gift from my mom, but we decided to wait until spring to pick it out. Jason is more excited than Ben at this point. We had a hard time deciding between the luxury model, with seats, cup holders, and a sunscreen, and the all-terrain model, with knobby, inflatable wheels. We decided on the “all-terrain” because we envision using it at J’s races, camping, etc. Jason has spent the last 20 minutes describing to me how he will “pimp it out” to add our own cupholders, rain fly, cushioning, etc. We’ll have to keep you posted on progress…oh yeah, and what Ben thinks of it :-D

A little knitting with a photo kicker

Yes, I have been knitting. I have abandoned one of my blanket projects, and taken on a sweater instead. I am using a pattern called “first sweater” appropriate, eh?

To thank you for looking at my knitting, how about a picture of Benny? I took this today after school, as he enjoyed his snack. I asked him to say cheese, and I got this cheese eating grin in return.

Enjoy your Friday and weekend.

Trying it on

March 20, 2007 | Filed Under Eaglet, videos | 4 Comments

I know I keep talking about what Ben is saying, but I love watching his language develop. I love the way he seems to try on new words or phrases. When I read him a book, he’ll often repeat the last word of each sentence. Yesterday, I was trying to rile up Scout, directing her attention out the window, and telling her “Get it!” Ben wandered around for the next 15 minutes repeating “Get it Scoutie” using different intonation and inflections. I don’t think I can express in writing how adorable some of these things are, so I present you with a video: errrr…dump truck.

We took this video tonight, during our night of fun. We played trucks, and we danced. Ohhhhh! How we danced! We danced until I was dripping with sweat and exhausted. I laid down on the kitchen floor, and Ben laid next to me. We pretended to sleep for a few seconds, then Ben jumped up and ran to the living room. I stayed on the floor, and he returned with a blanket to cover me up. He laid down next to me, for a few seconds. He then jumped up again and came back announcing “two pillows. Mommy pillow. Benny pillow.” Again, it only lasted a few seconds, and when he bounced up, he dragged me with him. The spell was broken, but it was undescribably heart warming while it lasted.
