When we got home from work last night, I helped Ben into the house as Jason got the mail. I saw a thick large envelope, and asked J what he ordered. See, my husband buys lots of things over the Internet and gets lots of fun mail. Read more

That’s my zoo song. Did you sing along?
The highlight of the weekend was definitely a Sunday morning trip to the zoo at Oxbow Park. We picked up some friends’ kids, Jordyn (10) and Riley (7), to accompany us. It was nice to spend time with more kids and older kids. Jason thought it was a peek into our future. Alas, I don’t think our own kids would be on their best behavior, nor so enamored with their baby brother. Riley kept Ben jumping, suggesting that they run everywhere, until he gave up and asked to ride in the wagon. Though the zoo was really busy, we lucked out (?) by getting there in time to pet the snakes and feed the goats. We also got to see the otters put on quite a show of swimming, flipping, and playing. Jordyn obviously has an interest in animals, as she taught me many facts about them and was brave enough to hold the snakes (not me!). I took a bunch of pictures, but I haven’t asked their parents if I can post them. If I don’t, next time you are over, ask to see them. Ad-or-able!
The rest of the weekend was pleasant. Jason spent lots of time working in the garage, and we enjoyed a lot of eating. We even had some people over Friday night for an impromptu cookout. Saturday, Jason did trail maintenance with his motorcycle club, while Ben and I powershopped. Good buys were made.
We are back to the grind now, and I’m sitting here regretting the cafeteria omelets I ate this morning. Why did I think that was a good idea?
Oh, to be a toddler

Last night, Ben and I went to the park. A little boy (Wyatt) who goes to his daycare was there. It was, understandably, very exciting. Wyatt, his dog, and his Mom left the park at the same time we did, and we discovered the boys have the same wagon. It, understandably, created quite a stir. We took off in our separate directions, only to meet up a few blocks away and discover we live only a block apart. As Wyatt’s mom and I walked side-by-side talking, the boys were side-by-side in the wagons. Apparently, it was the coolest thing ever, as they giggled and squealed and laughed together for several blocks. Oh, to be a toddler, and so easily amused. The only thing that can approach it, is to be the mother of a toddler.
