37 weeks today and finally some pictures of the incredible 44 inch belly!

(a couple more on flickr if you care)
Although there is still more to accomplish, I am getting eager. Jason’s just been hit by anxiety. It is funny we are on opposite waves…though if this belly was attached to him, perhaps he might be eager too.
I haven’t been sleeping for the last several nights, and not because I can’t get comfortable, have to potty all the time, and have terrible heartburn, instead I am just antsy. I think the nesting is setting in. We are slowly crossing things off the pre-baby to do list…ordered a new pack-n-play, finally decided on a name!, and more organization at home.
Still on the list:
New symptoms this week…an increase in swelling. I’m really working to stay away from salt. It’s hard! I like salt. Many more aches and pains…pressure in the pelvis, soreness, and achy back. I keep reading and rereading all the early pregnancy signs just to make sure I’m not missing anything. I really feel at a disadvantage never having gone into labor before. I clearly remember, with Ben, being convinced at bedtime that I would awake in labor night, after night…I’m doing it again.
No matter what, it won’t be long before this baby arrives and people are pulling out their crystal balls. I figure it is time to make it official: TheDeuce baby guess is now open! When do you think Mr. Eagle will introduce himself to the world? Leave a comment with your date and weight guess. Winner gets…bragging rights! I’ll start it out with a guess from a co-worker who doesn’t read the site:
Kris: Dec 26, 2007 10lbs 3oz (isn’t she mean!)
Finally…

We had a great Thanksgiving weekend here in Minnesota. Stacey arrived on Wednesday and the lazing began. Thursday, we did the traditional turkey dinner, but without the stress…and it pretty much set the mood for the weekend.

Jason sat in the cold for more hunting, but without success. Stacey braved the crowds on Friday to hunt for deals, with considerably more success. Saturday, we took Benny to see Curious George at the movie theater, which was great. I loved the popcorn, and Benny really enjoyed the movie. He sat on Auntie’s lap for the whole thing and laughed out loud several times. Saturday evening, we took Benny to the play land at the mall and to play with the trains at the bookstore. Sunday, we were planning to find a Christmas tree, but someone was too lazy (me!). I was actually relaxed and ready to return to work on Monday.
For the record, when asked what he is thankful for, Benny responded “diggers”. Not Mommy and Daddy or turkey or presents from Auntie, just diggers
Of course, the way he reads his new books compulsively while wearing his hard hat, I think he might have been thankful for the presents too.

Today was my 36 week appointment and ultrasound. Everything is going well. Weight, heartbeat, and blood pressure are all doing fine. The ultrasound was neat, but different. Because the baby is so much bigger now, the views weren’t as good and the little turkey (again) wouldn’t stop moving! The kicks to my full bladder were especially troubling. We did get another good view of his downstairs, and the equipment is definitely all there. There is no question that this baby is a boy. They were able to get all the measurements for size, despite his squirming, and estimate him to be at 6lbs 6oz now. (Incidentally, I believe that is what I weighed when I was born). This puts him in the 70th percentile, and they estimate his full-term weight to be 8.5-9lbs, unless he hits the buffet hard for the next month. I am, of course, a little relieved. Though, oddly, it is hard for me to get my head around it. Having a normal sized baby will be a whole new experience. At today’s appointment, I also had my Strep B test, which made Jason giggle because the doctor said “anus” — or Borat/Jason style “anoose.” No new symptoms this week, just more continuations on the heartburn/reflux, tiredness, and soreness. Although more tired, I feel so much better than at this point with Ben…I can’t hardly complain. I’ve also had bursts of nesting energy in which I can get some stuff done. Only problem, I inevitably overdue it and collapse afterward. We’ve got another 2 weeks before our next doctor’s visit, and I trust TheDeuce will behave for the duration.
