the tools for academic success

I feel it is never too early to start teaching our children important life skills, so when Ben’s teacher sent home a worksheet to be returned on Monday (a week later), I embraced it as a learning opportunity. First, I threw it on the floor of the van and forgot about it. This morning, as we rushed to the kids to school (late, of course), I remembered it and dug it out.
Mommy: Ben, what’s your favorite book?
Ben: I dunno.
Mommy: Is it The Fire Cat?
Ben: No.
Mommy: Is it Biscuit Wins a Prize?
Ben: Nope.
Daddy: Is it the Tonka Big Truck Book (pick anyone, he has several)?
Ben: Yeah.
Mommy: Why is that your favorite?
Ben: Because it is.
Mommy: Is it because you like the pictures?
Ben: Yes. I likes the big truck pictures.
Mommy (blatantly prompting): Is it because you like to learn about trucks?
Ben: Ok.
Procrastination and BS: remember those 2 things, son, and you’ll do ok (or at least, as ok as your mom and dad have done).
easter recap

Easter was pretty low key this year, but we did manage to leave carrots out for the Easter Bunny (EB):

which we discovered in the morning that he had eaten:

He left some presents behind, including gardening tools, sidewalk chalk, a puzzle, and ears:

I never worked up my energy or courage to tackle dying Easter eggs alone with Ben, so the closest we got was decorating paper eggs with stickers
Oh well, there will be time for that next year.

Jason is feeling much better and is officially scabbed over…back to work and normal tomorrow. Whew!
ben and the bunny

Before the plague, we took Ben to a local photo chain for portraits with a live bunny. Actually, we had hoped for pics with both boys, but they weren’t cooperating. The quality left much to be desired (I wanted to push the photographer aside and shoot it myself, but I’m a control freak like that), but there is no denying the cute quotient of Ben and the bunny. (family can expect prints in the mail when I get my act together).

and, the personality shot:
