Party down at daycare

Last Friday was the Christmas party and holiday program at the kids’ daycare. The baby party included bubbles, Santa and presents.

Sam enjoyed some parts more than others. This is Sam with Kaitlyn. She is one of his teachers, and he adores her.

For Ben’s class, they had prepared a bunch of songs to sing for the parents (and grandparents, as Dad and Bonnie made it in time to attend). He wasn’t the loudest or best singer, but man, he was expressive. You should see the video!

Ben has no fear of the man who brings presents:

I can’t believe it.

More will come when I have energy and reach the appropriate level of acceptance.
Sam is one.

Dear Texas

I miss your 70 degree days, and your Matt and Nancy-ness. Finally, the pictures and post that the trip deserves!

Jason and Ben drove Sammy and I to the airport in Minneapolis. It was Sammy’s first flight, but he did well. He was awake for the entire flight there, and I managed to keep him pretty still and quiet.

Matty drove us home, where we surprised Nancy. He walked in with Sam, claiming to have found him in the bushes. HA! To her credit, Nancy knew right away that it was one of her favorite nephews (she has several favorites).

After munching some chili and talking up a storm, we attempted to get rest for the big day on Saturday. (Sammy wasn’t cooperating with the sleep plan).
The morning was a flurry of preparations. I took a few shots, but I wish I would have gotten the final food spread.

I think the shower was a great success, thanks to Chris and the wonderful and talented knit girls. I was so happy to finally meet them, and I’m glad that Nancy has found such a great extended family in Texas. The food was awesome, and the handmade gifts were incredible. I wish a little of their talent and creativity would have rubbed off on me. Sam was crabby and overwhelmed, and spent the shower tree-frogged on me.

Saturday evening, Matty made some incredible chicken, which I am craving right now, and we settled in for a quiet evening.

Sunday, we awoke refreshed, gorged on pumpkin pancakes, hurriedly packed, snapped a few pictures, and suddenly the trip was over. It was way too quick, and if I didn’t miss Ben and Jason so much, I don’t think I would have ever left.

Matt and Nancy, thanks for your hospitality. I can’t wait to visit again and meet my niecphew.
