Igniting the passions

errr…Creative Passions that is. Earlier this month, I went on a little Mommy’s getaway to Michigan. First, I stopped at Ember’s house for some dog snuggles and a good night sleep. The next day, we stopped at Marie’s for lunch. Goodness I miss that place. It wasn’t hard to remember how it was so capable of enticing me to skip class…

In Chesaning, we joined up with my mom and Lisa and others for a crafty weekend. There were stampers, card makers, scrapbookers, quilters, and painters all there to do their thing. I wish I could have stayed longer, as it really did kick up some creative juices that I thought were gone forever.

In addition to crafting and LOTS of eating (including coneys with homemade Flint-style coney sauce and Kogels), I enjoyed the hot tub and a massage. ::sigh:: We also enjoyed a beautiful weekend. Em and I took a short walk around Chesaning, which is charming.

A brief lunch in Flint with Dave, Tammy and the kids and dinner with Dad and Bonnie and BOOM. The weekend was over, though I admit I was eager to get back to the boys. Hopefully it won’t be another 3 years before I can go again!

jumping around, so what’s new?

April 26, 2009 | Filed Under Benny, Photos, Sammy | 3 Comments

Yes, another random jumping around post. Ben has begun signing “I love you” to me. Sometimes he does it just because, but usually it is to temper his brattiness. He must know it makes me melt.
I love him too

He’s been playing outside quite often since it has begun warming up. (yes, he is wearing Jason’s ear muffs, and no, I do not know why. He’s a weird kid.)
ramp shhhh.

Ben started soccer. He’s taken to it as well as any sport (aka not too well), but he is so darned cute in his gear. Isn’t looking cute the first requirement?

Consider this your transition: Ben, Sam and Jason having a tickle fight this weekend.

Sammy is now 16 months old, in the toddler class at school, and weaned. I’m not really thrilled with any of these developments, but there you have it. After a rough week of drop-offs, I think he is finally adjusting to the new teachers, kids, and room. By reports, he is doing well eating at the table (not in a high chair) and sleeping on a cot (not a crib). Today, I finally gave in and took him in for his first haircut. Yes, he hardly has any hair, but those few were getting long and mullet-ish. He did really well, and LOVED his sucker. (PS, I didn’t edit these in my haste to post today, so the color is a little wonky)

I still have pictures and a report to share about my retreat in Michigan (if anyone cares). Life will slow down soon. Won’t it?

easter, a little late

April 23, 2009 | Filed Under Benny, Photos, Sammy | 1 Comment

Easter turned out to be an exciting and uneventful day. We started with a special breakfast, Corn Pops (also known as Mommy had a craving).

After breakfast, the kids found and opened their Easter baskets. Ben got a swing, sidewalk chalk, and some matchbox cars. Sammy got some bath toys and his very own crayons.

We were then planning to color eggs. Instead, Sammy bit into a dish washer tablet. Off to ER we headed. We learned that Easter morning is a great time to go to the ER. The folks in the waiting room loved cheerful and friendly Sam. The nurses were ready to eat him up with his bright eyes, toothy smile, and cute sweater. After ER, we decided the rest of the day would be spent playing outside and relaxing. No more messes or excitement.

So, my work responsibilities are as taken care of as possible. *all* that’s left is packing and a 600 mile drive I will be officially be on retreat. In other words, I will be MIA for the near future (maybe J will post???)
I’ll leave you with this little Easter turkey, who feasted on dish detergent and spent Easter morning in ER. (He’s fine, and loved the attention)
