quick baby update

I’ve been very lax about posting my pregnancy happenings, partly because I anticipate this will be the last, so I won’t be as eager to look back and partly because not much is happening.
Today I had my 38.5 week appointment. It started out normally, with a few pounds of weight gain, which I expected because I am swelling (not as bad as with Ben, but worse than with Sam). As I declined a cervical check (haven’t been getting them), I expected the appointment to go quickly. The surprise came with my blood pressure. I always have very low pressure, but this week my diastolic was up more than 20 point over usual (though still not high). The doc ordered a urine sample (to check for protein) and checked my blood pressure again at the end (still high for me). He said if the test came back positive for protein, he would induce TODAY! Otherwise, he wants to see me again Monday (instead of a week) to keep an eye on my blood pressure.
It was a pretty tense and hectic afternoon, as I worried and scurried around work. Around 2, the call came in that the test was negative. Hopefully, TheFinale and I will hang around to hear a few more people ask “are you still here?”
park!

Jason promised the boys that if they were could for me while he went riding today that we would “do something special.” As the boys WERE good, we decided to take them to a park in Dodge Center that we have never visited. It was a good call, as the kids had a great time. Actually, I think it served to put J and I in better moods too ![]()
Some pics from the park…I’m working on my BW conversions, so more of those than usual. (What? You think preparing for this kid would be a better use of my time? Really? Are you really complaining that I am posting new pics of the boys? Yeah. I didn’t think so!)
Jason and I wear wearing sunglasses (it was quite sunny), so Ben had to wear his. Since Ben wore his, Sammy needed his too. Where Ben took them off after about 2 minutes, Sam wore them most of the time. He thought he was pretty awesome
Easter 2010

Can you believe it? A timely post!!!
Easter weekend started slowly for us on Saturday. I have been battling a cold and spent most of the day napping and trying to entertain Sammy. Jason planned a huge dinner, so he and Benny spent the day cooking. Jason really got Ben involved, from the grocery store to chopping garlic (first time using a knife!). They grilled a leg of lamb, made cucumber sauce, rice, and bread and veggies. YUM! It’s all I can say. YUM!

Today, even though I still feel yucky, I was determined to have a festive Easter. The kids waited patiently to open their baskets:

The baskets didn’t hold any candy this year. Ben got 2 small lego sets, a toy dirt bike, and playdoh eggs. Sammy got a Tag book, a toy car, and playdoh eggs. Not having identical baskets was a mistake, as they fought over the dirt bike all day, though the other items were a success. The playdoh eggs especially, as they entertained Sammy twice!

For brunch, Jason made Greek omelets with leftover lamb, onion, tomatoes, feta, and cucumber sauce and home fries on the side. Holy cow. It was even better than it sounds. While Jason cooked, the kids and I colored Easter eggs. Even doing it outside, I am too high strung for stuff like that. We ended up with kids as colored as the eggs. Ah well, Easter is only once a year.

After naps/attempts at naps/an ambulance call (Jason was on-call all day), we set out on our Easter egg hunt.

Ben’s big smile is from finding candy in the eggs. Of course, about half of them had crackers inside. They were still pretty happy with their candy and cracker snack.
After snack, we opened packages from Grandpa and Grandma and Auntie Stacey. I was trying to get them to sit on the couch while Jason opened the boxes. This is how they chose to sit waiting:

After taking this picture, Ben said “I have an idea.” He posed them for this one and asked, “aren’t we cute, Momma?”

Yes, Ben. You are definitely very cute ![]()

Smarter than the Easter bunny, Grandpa and Grandma sent TWO semi-trucks, which the boys played with for most of the afternoon.
After the meat-fest of Saturday night, we decided to postpone the pot roast dinner we had planned. Inspired by the fresh strawberries in the fridge, Jason made pancakes for dinner. It was a pretty delicious end to our Easter Sunday.
Happy Easter
